Description

This course introduces and applies the tools of economics to understanding international trade. The course offers a formal approach to the following questions: how can we measure international trade and quantify the openness of economies? How can we explain the trade performance of economies? How can we explain the structure of trade and the sectoral specialisation of economies? What are the strategies available to firms in this trade? What trade tools and policies are available and what are their effects for both developed and developing countries? Simple mathematical tools are used to quantify the answers to these questions.
